Better Water for Coffee, Ice, and Drinking Water
Lake in the Hills delivers treated well water to its residents.
Like most well water, it is very high in Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Mainly inorganic salts and metals.
High TDS levels often give water a poor taste. It can leave your mouth feeling chalky and dry.
Carbon Filters like refrigerator filters and water pitcher filters have little effect on inorganic contaminants. At best, Carbon Filters will improve the water in cities like Lake in the Hills by only 5-10%.
The LINX Evolution offers a much more comprehensive solution. The LINX can reduce TDS by up to 95%.
With purified water, the problem contaminants are removed.
You get fresh tasting water. Rich, robust coffee. Nice clear ice cubes – with no floaties!
How the LINX Evolution Works
The LINX Evolution uses 3 different water treatment technologies:
- Sediment Filtration for dirt and debris
- TDS Reduction Filter
- Carbon Filtration for chlorine and organics
The TDS Reduction Filter is the real magic of the system.
The TDS cartridge uses electrodeionization (EDI) to purifiy water. EDI uses electricity and a special film made out of cation and anion resin.
Basically, it works like a Water Softener without salt. And it doesn’t just take out hard water.
The LINX Evolution removes Inorganics, Organics, Disinfectants, and even Bacteria and Virus!
Why Reverse Osmosis Wastes so Much Water
Reverse Osmosis Systems use membranes to purify water. Membranes separate water into 2 streams:
- Pure water enters a storage tank
- Waste water runs down the drain
Every time you fill up a glass, you create waste water. And thats the problem.
When an RO tank is empty, its easy to fill with pure water. It usually takes 3-4 gallons to make 1 pure gallon.
But as the tank fills, it gets hard to push pure water in. More water runs down the drain.
By the time the tank is full, it can take 19 gallons to create 1 pure gallon. That’s only 5% efficiency!
LINX Evolution vs RO Water Waste
The LINX gives you the same,or better water than Reverse Osmosis. But it’s also 70% efficient!
That means out of 100 gallons, only 30 would be wasted. The rest would be pure drinking water!
Compare that with Reverse Osmosis. Out of 100 gallons, only 5 are pure water. That means 95 gallons of waste water!
Depending on use, a family of 4 can easily save 8,000-12,000 gallons of water each year!
